A lovely garden - and I loved seeing the Shuttleworth collection of old planes, cars etc too
Swiss Garden, Old Warden的点评
点评：While attending a course on Garden History recently, and hearing about the 'Picturesque' period, I felt I should visit the Swiss Garden. I'm a regular visitor to Switzerland, and confess the Swiss Chalet at the garden's centre is quite unlike anything I've ever seen on my travels, but I can quite understand how appealing the 'ups and downs' of the garden's mounds, dips, ponds, rivers etc would have been at its time of creation - as it still is today. Even in November, the planting looked delightful, and I'd certainly like to return in spring or summer to appreciate more colour.
As for the Shuttleworth Collection, in which I had no initial interest, it exceeded all expectations! I was most impressed at reading the background (much of which is presented by volunteers) to most of the planes, cars, motorbikes etc, and at hearing that many of the planes are 'ready to fly', some of which have featured in various Bollywood movies, and in the tv series Mr Selfridge!
Certainly worth a return visit!
