点评:So, the starting and ending signs of Route 66 are not much to see, but the history is unbelievable and an enduring part of Americana. There is a major resurgence of interest in the road and we have seeing it in bits and pieces over the last couple years. You can exercise various different strategies; to be honest some parts of it are simply driving down a two lane road next to the interstate. But, the staring and ending signs are part of the story and as you get out to the Joliet area you begin to piece together the whole story. Other writers have reviewed this sign here and I would agree; it is not worth making a special driving trip from far away and certainly don’t drive in when traffic is congested which is always a challenge in Chicago. The police don’t seem to bother you if you just jump out of your car and snap a couple pictures. Put yourself or something funny in the picture because (as you can see), the sign itself doesn’t make much for good photos. Consider bringing a step stool or something to get yourself up to the sign height. We were really glad we went down there and see Millennium Park and the lake. Walk around a bit, Chicago is a big interesting city with some fabulous hotels very close (parking is ridiculous).
