点评:This place has just raised their prices by almost 50%.
I’ve used to get the same items for each order (with minor changes). Generally, it has come to $35. Yesterday, they started quoting me $50. FOR THE SAME ITEMS.
I’ve always accepted that their fish (I order salmon sashimi) has a faint smell of cleaning detergent – the same smell you experience when you step into their restaurant (at least since Covid – it always smells like bleach or some sort of cleaning detergent). Which I don’t’ mind too much since I ‘clean’ my sashimi in soy sauce and ‘butter’ it in freshly grated wasabi. But my wife NEVER eats their sushi because of the lingering smell….
Anyway, I have been just fine for the last few months as it hit the need. I knew what to order, I knew what quality I’d get and I’d be fine with it for the price of $35 (for my 4x salmon sashimi, which are 12 slices of salmon, and one order of the Bang Bang shrimp appetizer).
But imagine my surprise when I ordered the same for take-out yesterday – and was told it would now be $49 and change. Seriously? Almost 50% more expensive? I immediately canceled the order.
Then I drove to the restaurant and asked for a paper/take-out menu with the updated prices. They didn’t have one. They told me to take pictures of their eat-in menus. Which, seriously…. come one… Also, that menu doesn’t even show the sashimi options. Anyway, I mentioned to the person at the 'reception’ that I’m surprised about the price increase (and its magnitude) and – unasked – a guy sitting close to the sushi counter shouts over to me that it’s the fault of ‘inflation’. Yeah, right. Inflation is at fault for an almost 50% price increase…
Anyway: I did appreciate the convenience of this place and that it offered me what I sometimes wanted – but hell no, I’m not gonna pay almost 50% more for something that’s only just so hitting the spot (when ignoring the smell of the actual sushi/fish and in your mind deducting value for that fact). Damn, you cray cray!
For other items on the menu:
- The soups are alright. Overpriced for what you get.
- The fried rice options… ridiculously overprice for what you get. $15for a fried rice. Ouch.
- Sushi rolls: meh. Flavor is ok. Effort going into them: nill. Lingering smell of detergent (see above): always there – but mostly masked by the sauces and spices they add to their rolls.
- ‘mains’: not worth the money. Really. I’ve tried most if not all of them, they are definitely overpriced.
Worst thing: about a year or so ago, ownership changed. What used to be an ‘interested’ group of people owning/running the place has been replaced by people not giving a rat’s ass about anything. Seriously. It’s comical. Just go order take-out and drop by to pick it up. You’ll see what I mean immediately 😉
Oh, and eating in... damn, you'd be disappointed if you expected any sort of atmosphere... That place is always empty. People only deal with it to take out. And, as said above, it ALWAYS has a smell of bleach (even the fish starts smelling of it).
