点评:Brezilhac is a tiny village – fewer than 200 people, and this restaurant is a relatively new venture having started in November 2021. Currently it opens only on Friday evenings and booking is essential – it was packed out last Friday when we went with a friend for a truly delicious supper.
The photo shows eating outside but there’s a very pleasant dining room with perhaps 35 covers.
A restricted but very well chosen menu and an assumption (not compulsory) that dishes will be shared. Prices are very reasonable – except for the cote de boeuf which is absolutely delicious but very expensive. If, like me, you love good beef you’ll choose your piece from those displayed in a cold cabinet. Make sure you ask how much your chosen piece will be before choosing: my steak was large and delicious but cost €60 – as much as all the rest of the food the three of us had put together!
You select your wine from a rack at the end of the dining room – a very well chosen selection or regional wines with the price for each written on the label. Prices varied from €20 to €40. We chose from the top of the range and were very happy with it.
The ambiance was very relaxed and friendly and all the staff spoke good English.
Clearly many of the customers were regulars thoroughly enjoying their meals.
Brezilhac is around thirty minutes from Carcassonne and well-worth the drive. We’ll definitely be going back and I’ll probably be heading for the beef – but I’m going to make sure I know the price first!
