点评:This is the first review I have ever written. I've been to Big Top with my wife 5 times now and we have absolutely loved it. Great beer, great service, amazing food... Today is the first time either of us have used the restroom, and it is abhorrent.
The male restroom is covered in extraordinarily demeaning quotes to undermine masculinity (pictured). It contains the verbiage: "I'm Tired" / "You'll never change" / "I don't even know you anymore" / "I'll just get my dad to do it" / "This is why I have to repeat myself". These effectively are intended to convey the sentiment: "No one will sleep with you" / "You're irrevocably irredeemable" / "You're incompetent". These are all horribly viscous attacks targeting men.
I asked my wife to check the female restroom to see if it is a similar theme (pictured) - and it is revealing of the message that Big Top would like to convey. The woman's restroom contained affirmations, such as: "Don't be a lady, be a legend" / "I am beautiful, loving, and powerful" / "I love who I am".... Despite the positivity, the female restroom made both my wife and the waitress severely uncomfortable. When introducing the quotes in the male restroom as a comparison - they were both appalled.
It is obvious the intention of both the designer and the owner, these are not light hearted quips but direct attacks at fundamental aspects of masculinity. This choice is extremely toxic, malicious, and unacceptable. Why demonize what likely makes up more than 50% of clientele? In my short discussions on this, the 5 men in the restroom, my wife, and the waitress were all disgusted by the messaging. I will not be returning.
