Managing Expectations, 35 Dives with this company. Long but worth the read

点评：I now have 35 dives with SFDH in varying conditions and here's my experience and experiences from watching other divers.
As a diver flying in from Illinois, I have high expectations when I arrive but managing those expectations is key.
The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and professional. Eager, able to assist and answer all questions. Do your part as a diver, show up early and as prepared as possible.
Safety, the biggest one for me, they take roll call before leaving the dock which is computer generated from your diving waiver. You receive a boat orientation and safety brief en route. Sea and bottom conditions relayed, assistance entering and exiting the boat and another roll call at the completion of each dive site. Water and snacks provided, ice cooler available for brought food and beverages.
Signing up for specific dive sites and then those dive sites being changed on the fly by the Captain or Dive Master is disappointing but once again they change sites for diver safety.
"Passengers" working as crew. I had a conversation with a group of concerned divers who saw "passengers" assisting in boat duties and were wondering how the company could allow such a thing. These passengers are, in face, SFDH Dive Masters and Instructors who happen to be on the boat that day diving. They are simply assisting their fellow company employees. SFDH does not allow passengers to assist is boat duties!!!
Canceled dive trips, very frustrating, but let me tell you, if they cancel a trip it is for your safety!!!!!
Rough seas (5'+ swells), yes, it's going to be rough and you'll probably see divers with sea sickness, yes, you'll have to time your giant stride entry and it might be challenging to reenter the boat. Absolutely, the crew will assist you with everything you need to make your diving experience safe and great. Accept this or a canceled trip for safety.
Overall, this company and staff will do everything possible to give you the best and safest diving experience possible for that specific day. Manage your expectations, and you'll also have a great experience!!!
