Had A Decent Time, But Know Before You Go…

点评：Knowing what you are signing up for makes a big difference. So I’ll lay it out for you.
This operation does not cater to newbies to saltwater fishing. If it’s your first time out on the ocean fishing or if it’s been a while, you will do better to find a boat that caters more to newbies. It’s more for serious fishermen. The boat boobs and rolls pretty significantly out on the ocean. So if you are at all prone to sea sickness forget about it. Unless the family is well seasoned, I wouldn’t recommend this as a family outing on your vacation.
Related note: They provide conventional reels. Look these up and study how they work before you show up and that might save you some trouble. They are unforgiving and will unspool and tangle up badly if you aren’t on the ball with these things at all times.
While not much for instruction, the deck hands worked hard at untangling lines, fixing reels, etc. which was nice.
As reported by others, the boat does get crowded. Don’t expect to spread out. We went on a Wednesday and it was still packed, and lines getting crossed was a regular thing.
On our day out, the fishing was not great. I think the whole boat pulled 7 fish on the day, and the only folks who caught anything were “regulars”, most or all of whom used their own fishing equipment.
My friend and I caught nothing. As a newbie I wasn’t too bothered by that, and I did appreciate that they were friendly and ran on time. It was nice to just get out on the water, even if there was some decent chop.
Keep in mind the deck hands work for tips, so plan on throwing in $12 or so per head when you get off. Cash only for tips.
