What used to be a first-class organization who actually cared about customers has morphed into an organization who could care less about appreciating loyal patrons. I’ve been a Marriott Elite Member for more than 20 years!!!
Case in point:
I made a mistake in booking a reservation at a Fairfield Inn in Palm Coast, FL. I booked a reservation for 1 day before I actually needed it using a free night certificate that was set to expire. When I arrived a day later than the booked reservation, I was told that since I was a no show, they cancelled the reservation, and I could not use my free night certificate to stay. I ended up using 15, 000 points to stay the night. I immediately called customer service to explain my problem and requested the points be refunded to my account. Instead, the property refunded my free night certificate which I could not use since it expired on the date they refunded. it. Now, after 5 follow-up phone calls to Marriott, I’m told that “the property” is not willing to do anything further. I was surprised to learn that Marriott does NOT own all of their properties.
BEWARE!!
That said, Marriott “Corporate” was unwilling to refund me the 15,000 points. I am done with Marriott. It is truly a principle thing, as 15,000 points “might” be worth $100. I’ll use up my points and cancel my personal and business Marriott credit cards and move on. Lots of other fish in the sea!
Oh by the way, the bathroom had pink mold coming through the walls.
