点评:We were looking forward to going to Portobello for sometime to try something different from our usual haunt. When we arrived we were greeted by a pleasant hostess and shown to a great table. The restaurant itself is attractive but not over done. The waiter was quick to arrive with the menus and the specials, at which point he took our drink orders. He also returned quickly with our drink orders at which point we ordered dinner. That was the last quick response we got from the waiter. From then on we had to get his attention if we needed something, like our dinner. As for the food - the menu was pretty usual fair, nothing to exciting. Between the four us, we had salads (standard). Entrees included ravioli lobster, calamari, sausage with broccoli rabe, carbonara (this is my test meal at any new Italian restuarant). Out of the four, the sausage with broccoli rabe, which we had to ask for, was the best. The calamari was well cooked but bland, the ravioli had a hint of lobster, and my carbonara did not pass the test - to much cheese and very little bacon - it was sort of blobby. While we waited for our entrees we asked for some garlic to and a small dish of olive oil to dip our bread in. Shocker - the oil was rancid. A true first. We've had bad oil before but never rancid. The wine list while limited wasn't bad but the waiter brought a wine glass, which he filled, that had a huge lipstick smear. It took a while for us to get his attention to get this glass then we had to call him again to bring the new glass. The new glass came wineless, and we asked for him to bring the replacement wine, which took quite a while as he had to ask the manager (we were wondering, "Ask the manager what?") Anyway, the new glass with wine came pretty much as we were finishing our meals. As a way of apologizing the waiter offered a desert on the house - sabaglione. It was the high point of the meal. I would go again and order this with a coffee. The rest we didn't think warrants a return.
