He was upset that I had called out to him, distracting him from reading text messages on his phone, and he told me haughtily that he wasn’t my servant and that he deserved respect! I thought I had misunderstood him because his English was so poor. But then he doubled down on his statement and repeated that he wasn't my servant. He also said that he was the store manager. At that point, I gave up and decided to go elsewhere. Imagine, if this is the store manager, what a role model he must be for the rest of the staff! Chain stores like Rodilla, virtually unknown in the US, can’t afford to have staff, let alone managers, with a chip on their shoulder. If this individual doesn't like to deal with customers then he's in the wrong business and has no place fronting a retail store. I have told the story to many of my friends in the ex-pat community and some say they've had similar experiences at the store. I'd be surprised if they stay open for another year. And don't bother looking for their corporate offices or a customer service hotline. This is one business which likes to operate without regard for the customer, and where a sandwich is served along with a heap of customer abuse.
