点评：Really wanted to love this restaurant experience but it didn’t quite reach the heights. Look it’s good, but not great, and reading the reviews you’d think this place was the epitome of Italian cuisine? Eyebrows raised when the bruschetta starter came out as tomatoes on ‘soggy’ french bread covered in mozzarella? That’s a new one and fine if executed well, but it wasn’t! Bruschetta is a peasant dish using left over bread, made crispy covered in tomato, maybe garlic and herbs. Burrata would have been nice but melted mozzarella on soft bread just made the whole thing soggy! More akin to mini pizza you’d Make with kids!
Main dishes are just huge, unnecessarily so and perhaps why the restaurant scores so well! Pasta is such a cheap ingredient, overfill a plate or bowl and any guest thinks they’re getting a great deal- oldest trick in the book!
The prawn/scallop spaghetti was tasty, hint of chilli. Had the chef seared the Scallops and properly de-veined the prawns it would have been so much better?
Couldn’t eat the whole plate- felt uncomfortable with the waste!
Similarly the ‘penette ’(clearly penne pasta but pennette sounded better I’m guessing) and was good but the addition of small pieces of ham seemed a little lazy!
The lasagne was excellent, a deep Tomato sauce and great texture. Again portion size too big! Not every guest wants to leave a restaurant with a carrier bag full of uneaten food. Smaller portion sizes matched with more reasonable prices would be a good balance?
Service was excellent, outside ambience nice. Just lacking that authentic Italian feel!
