点评：I have so much love for this place and have been coming here for years since they opened (in ~2004?) while I was a high schooler down the road. Surf Bagel has evolved from humble beginnings in one location and grew as demand increased. High quality has always been a constant and you’ll find that the bagels are real deal NY style. I don’t get back to Delaware much anymore, but this is one of the first spots I’ll hit when I do.
There are plenty of good menu items here, but Taylor pork roll, egg & cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel is my breakfast love language and no one does it better than this place. At some point along the way they started roasting their own coffee, which is also a hit. The surf culture vibe is obviously great and the decor that pays homage to local sports is a great touch too.
A couple of tips to optimize your experience.. Surf Bagel opens daily at 0630am. Highly recommend you either go right when they open or at least before 0830am. This is when the bagels are going to be at their peak freshness for the day and you’ll beat a lot of the crowd to the punch and may not have to wait quite as long. Also, if you can’t find parking in the front, no worries as you can find overflow spots in the back since they’ve expanded their footprint.
They’ve received mostly positive feedback on here, but there are some complaints about wait time. I have to defend surf bagel by saying that this is just an effect of the supply vice demand equation and the staff does the best they can so be reasonable. When you combine high quality products, a resort area (in the summer) and how overpopulated the area has become, you just have to wait for things that are great. Welcome to reality :)
Be patient, be courteous, exude the aloha and give this place a shot. It’s a top tier establishment.
