点评:I only get takeout from Wang's occasionally because I usually patronize places in Glastonbury or Rocky Hill due to work. I don't understand all of the "5" reviews because I would only rate this place a "3," at best.
Let's start with a usual accompaniment to lunch or dinner .. the Egg Roll. They are hard and greasy; look at the plastic bag they’re wrapped in the next time you get food from Wang’s.
They also have cut the vegetables in their dishes in several ways:
(1) they use cabbage in chow mein which changes the flavor of the dish. Is this supposed to replace the bean sprouts? Sorry, the dish tastes different.
(2) they make some meals that are supposed to have two vegetables with mostly one - onions - and only add a couple of pieces of the other veggie, green pepper. If I wanted Onion Steak, I’d order it. Sorry, Wang's, but it's called Pepper Steak for a reason.
(3) the dough for the dumplings is so heavy and thick that it’s ridiculous. There is no “art” to the food made here.
(4) the "homemade" fried noodles are awful. They're greasy and too wide.
If I meet the person who used to punch holes in the lid for the containers of hot soup, I'll ask for them to never do it again. NOBODY does that except the staff here. The bag tipped over one night in my car and I had soup all over the floor.
If I wanted meals that weren’t made as they should be, I wouldn’t care. But if I order Chicken Chow Mein, I expect to get Chicken Chow Mein with celery, onions and bean sprouts in the dish, not an abundance of cabbage with a couple of pieces of celery thrown in. I will compliment them on their Won Ton soup, but I've had better broth in other restaurants.
So, if you’re looking for quality food, it can be found elsewhere. This will do in a pinch, but not forever.
