点评：We have been dining Itasca for years. It has always been one of our favorite restaurants. Saturday night got off to a rocky start, as the reservation that I made an open table the restaurant did not have. We were told the reservation had been canceled by me. The host was gracious and said that they would be able to see us anyway. Shortly after I received an email stating that the reservation has been canceled by the restaurant, and then my open table seating confirmation follow that so not sure exactly what happened.
We proceeded to order a pre-dinner cocktail, which is what we always do. We were then serve the cocktail and told there would be a 90 minute limit to the table. We proceeded to tell the host that we would like to enjoy a cocktail, and our dinner, with a bottle of wine, a little hard to do in 90 minutes. we have never been told there was a limit on the table. In all the years we have been going there, the server said she would check, returned, and told us that we would be able to enjoy our dinner and our wine, even if it won’t be on the 90 minutes.
We proceeded to order our dinner, which included the fried oysters, which are exceptional! We have had fried oysters in many restaurants, never as good as Tosca‘s. I ordered the salmon, which was cooked perfectly with delicious of compliments. My husband ordered one of the pasta dishes which was equally as delicious. we ordered the apple dessert which was served warm, very enjoyable.
Unfortunately, my husband did not notice until we had already got home when he looked at the bill to find that the cocktails were $38. $20 for a kettle one Cosmo and $18 for a regular lemon drop martini. I have been to many fine, dining, restaurants, and Connecticut and never paid this much for a cocktail. Even at a high-end restaurant I expect $16 would be the max, most cocktails run between 10 and $13. Not sure what is going on Itasca, but the experience is not the same as it has been in the past.
The food is delicious, you decide whether you want to skip the cocktails and just have dinner
