点评:While the menu is adventurous for a Mexican-themed restaurant, but the service and over-the-top prices are prime examples of over-reach. We have eaten there twice: the first was several months after it had opened in the space previously occupied by the the National, opened by the famed NY restauranteur Geoffrey Zakarian, which mysteriously was closed after a small kitchen fire.
Now another famed restaurant maven, Jean-Georges Vongerichten took its place. It's now more inviting and pleasant in decor and furnishings with mild redecoration, but the $12 for a bowl of nachos is only the beginning of over-pricing. Wine by the glass starts at $16 and jumps quickly to $24 and more – by the small glass. The menu offers interesting options and the beef tacos are wonderful, but marinade can do wonders with flank steak.
It's worth trying for lunch and the bar looks inviting. But don't order too much of anything unless your wallet, or brokerage account, is full. On our recent visit, the service was dreadfully slow. The manager had to step in to provide service. The fame of a restaurant owner can only go so far. This one is a reach too far.
