Boulder Cork的点评
点评：Out of all the restaurants in Boulder we chose Cork to celebrate my birthday and my brother’s birthday. According to his doctors this will be the last birthday he will see, so this was a very unique and special night.
The staff was pleasant and seated us right away. The acoustics did nothing to dampen the really loud tables around us. I ordered a cocktail which turned out to be tasty, but about half the size of most cosmos I’ve had. I ordered the halibut special, my wife ordered the filet special (the waiter did not mention the price of these), my brother had a hamburger and my sister-in-law a Caesar salad. The halibut was dry, somewhat fishy and nothing at all like the juicy, flakey, wonderful halibut I’m used to in expensive restaurants. After one bite I pushed it aside. The waiter took it away and offered to get a menu for a different choice. Meanwhile, my brother offered a bite of the hamburger. He ordered medium rare, but it was well done. I’ve had better hamburgers in fast food joints. I then noticed my sister in law wasn’t eating her salad. It was just plain bad. Relatively tasteless, with a fishy, anchovy aspect to it. My wife’s filet was small, but done nicely. It wasn’t til later I discovered that it was actually filet and lobster. But the lobster turned out to be a tiny strip no bigger than a piece of shrimp sitting on top of the meat. All of that was bad enough but when we got the bill I was amazed. They did take the halibut off, but the filet was absurdly expensive for what we got.
They offered a free dessert which my brother agreed to. It took awhile to get it and by that time we all just wanted to get out of there.
Beyond disappointing.
There are so many better choices in Boulder that I highly doubt we’ll ever go back for dinner.
