点评:We must have visited Pearl District about 10 times now – so while this review is only of the latest visit, the impressions have been built over many visits. It uniformly excels in food, drinks, and service! Our most recent visit was on June 19, 2022 to celebrate Father’s Day.
We started with 2 cocktails - Ross island cooler: arette blanco tequila, yuzu, fresh pressed watermelon, agave, salted rim & Tumptown spritzer: oso de oro vermouth, balcony canyon hibiscus dry ale cider, aperol, orange.
Their homemade bread with excellent compound butter was enough to stave off our hunger before the mushroom appetizer arrived.
Sauteed wild mushrooms on a bed of the creamiest tastiest parmesan polenta (yumm!), white truffle sauce, chives and micro basil. The mushrooms were caramelized to perfection and what an umami bomb!
For her mains my wife chose six hour braised beef served over cavatappi pasta, with crispy shallots, and parmesan. The savory meat ragu sauce was excellent with nice hints of tartness, but probably not the best choice for her – somewhat heavy, and a large portion. We brought it home, and I had the remainder for lunch one day! Still a very good dish!
I have taken to ordering fish when the description looks appetizing – this is grilled Scottish salmon with Shanghai noodles, asparagus, carrots, shiitake mushrooms, scallions, miso-soy reduction, sesame chili crisp. The Shanghai noodles itself was of interest to me – but I had also never had their salmon! It was a great choice! The noodles had the perfect Asian flavor, especially with the home made sesame chili crisp – I had to ask if that was store bought – our waiter said it was something the chef makes on his own. Salmon was perfectly grilled and was easily the best dish of the evening.
We finished by sharing the peach cobbler of the day with vanilla ice cream. The perfect ending to a very satisfying meal. Hope this restaurant, named for the famed location in Portland, continues to thrive here!
