点评：I would like to give The Cottonwood a good review but it's hard to do so. Although we made a reservation a month in advance for a milestone birthday, we waited 40 minutes for our table. We were told that the group in "our table" had paid so it should not be long. When inquiring 15 minutes later, we were told that the host was not comfortable asking them to give up the table. While we understood, our take away was that it was okay to make us wait 40 minutes. While these things happen, the host was remiss by not offering us a round of drinks, a bottle of wine once seated, an appetizer to share, free bread (instead of the $5 they charge for bread). Any small gesture would have gone a long way with us.
The food was very good, but the menu is limited and the short ribs, although listed on their website, are no longer offered. And, on there were no specials. Our wait staff was nice and efficient, but there was no fresh ground pepper for our caesar salad (signature dish to share!) instead we were just provided with a coffee shop pepper shaker for the table.
After the wait, difficulty finding an entree, no accommodation for the 40-minute wait, the last slam was that this restaurant tacked on a 3% Employee Health Surcharge. For a $500 bill, plus $40 in tax, this added insult to injury. We were not notified of the charge and it is not shown on their website although customers are required to be notified if a restaurant intends to pass on the cost of health insurance for their employees to the customer.
Can't beat the beautiful view from this hilltop restaurant. However, it will be awhile before we return to the restaurant or recommend it. Being locals, that makes me sad.
