点评:Spent several days exploring the crossroad community of Barstow, California. Time to move on to our next destination. Due to the excessive heat wave in the area, left Barstow prior to 0600 and traveled 24 miles west of Barstow to the unincorporated community of Helendale, located along Route 66. Arrived in this small community after a 32-minute drive. Unfortunately, Helendale does not have any attractions to pique the curiosity of tourist. Drove around the area, looking for an early morning open restaurant that served breakfast. Discovered Molly Brown’s Country Café on National Trails Highway. Eatery is open daily 0600–1430, Based on our journey through the community, concluded this would be a perfect spot for breakfast, prior to mossing up the highway. Entered the yellow and brown building, to find a large dinning room with several guest enjoying the meals. Room is brightly light; tables are clean, and one has the feeling that you are welcome here. The “Outhouse” was immaculately clean. Sat at a table near a window where we could observe the traffic in the area. After examining the menu, placed our breakfast order (Hobo Skillet and the Combo Scrambler) with the waitress. Who display a professional attitude. Ater placing our order, had the opportunity to scrutinize the diner's décor. Fascinating and unique collection of artifacts and paraphernalia display on the walls. Waitress finally brought our meals to the table after a 27-minute wait. Hobo skillet contained two sunny side up fried eggs, hash brown potatoes smothered in melted cheese, ham, bacon, sausage with grilled onions and green bell peppers. The Combo Scrambler plate also had ham, bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs with jack and cheddar cheese. Hash browns and toast were served on the side. A selection of different condiments (ketchup and Tabasco sauce) is available to spice up these great meals. Both meals were well plated, appealing, tasty, and filling. Overall, an exceptional satisfying meal. Bill for these two meals was a bit on the expensive side. However, with the inflation rate in America, and the exorbitant cost of food, this meal could be considered reasonable priced. In your in traveling in Helendale or Barstow area and in need of a good breakfast, recommend a stop at Molly Brown’s Country Café.
