点评:Last night we had dinner with a former business colleague of mine and his family, who live in Modesto, at Fattoria e Mare. This is one of our favorite places in town, and boy did they deliver. We started with the olives and focaccia bread, and wine. (No corkage charge Monday - Thursday?) They could not decide which pasta dish to try, so the waitress offered to have Chef Pablo create them for us. That's what we did. Apparently, one was a pasta with a giant prawn and scallop on top that will be a new menu item. I wanted beef, and it was a lovely dish: enoki mushrooms (?), what seemed like shredded short ribs, a sliced black olive or two, and perfectly cooked pasta in a light red sauce. Sensational! He came out to check on us and we had him try the wine, which he liked. For dessert we had caramel gelatto. It was not inexpensive but it was a great dinner, a very nice evening, and a lot of fun. This is why I prefer his place to other fine dining places in town; he is always tweaking things and mixing it up (which the other fine dining place on Main Street does not do -- same old, same old .......).
