点评:My confidence level is fairly low with “Italian” restaurants outside of Italy. Especially restaurants outside of cities. They deliver a service that suits locals and regulars (and possibly tourists). So if that means overcooking the pasta and giving Italian regional specialties a “local twist” to suit - I understand that. So after some disappointing pasta in Seefeld a few days earlier, we didn’t have much confidence that things would improve in La Trattoria - but they did.
First, I must mention the fact that La Trattoria says it is open all day - and it actually seems to be. Not always the case - as we found out at another establishment. Where the kitchen was “finished”, about an hour before their advertised closing time.
In La Trattoria, we began by sharing an octopus salad, which was easily enough for two and totally delicious. My wife had spotted her favourite on the menu, slow-braised veal shank, (Ossobuco). It was terrific and could only be improved by having risotto Milanese alongside, other than the polenta (which was very good). Two thumbs-up for that from my wife. I also had veal but small medallions, served (again) in the Milanese style along with spaghetti, dressed with tomato sauce. Full marks to the chef who allowed the pasta to remain “al dente”. We finished with a slice of “Grandma’s Torta” for me and strudel for my wife - both excellent.
With the meal we had an excellent bottle of Primitivo from Puglia and I had an exceptionally smooth Grappa with my coffee. Service was totally excellent and earned La Trattoria the award for the best meal of this trip. Thoroughly recommended.
