点评:this is probably the most important square in Caracas. most visitors will start their sightseeing from here.
fun fact, there are some black squirrels on the trees at the square. there is also a insta-worthy street near the square covered by red umbrellas.
i started my walk from National Pantheon. then continue walking for the next 3 hours from National Pantheon to Plaza Bolivar and surrounding government buildings, on to the Eyes of Chavez, then the Theatre District. following that, I head towards the La Candelaria parish, and before ending my walk at the Museum District.
I think it is fine to walk by yourself if you stay alert 100% of the time. There are a lot of locals out and about on Sunday, and there are also National Guards and policemen around the blocks. Caracas is undeniably gritty, and I find the downtown atmosphere to be a combination of La Paz (Bolivia), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Bogota (Colombia). You will stand out as a foreigner because there are so few of them here, so practice street smarts, dress down, blend in, and always know where you are going.
