Beautiful Boat Ride and Gold Panning Experience
Alaska Gold Panning with Prospector John的点评
点评：Our family did the Kenai Lake Adventures - Gold N’ Boat.
We were stuck on the Seward Highway in a construction zone and had time to chat with the worker holding the stop sign. He said John would show us a good time and everyone leaves happy. This was a great recommendation for the adventure we were about to partake.
We had a good chat with John at the road side shop. In the shop you can find souvenirs, rocks, gold and can pan for gold there. We got instructions of where to go to get on the boat.
The boat ride on Kenai Lake was absolutely beautiful. It’s surrounded by mountains and the water was beautiful blue color. Very scenic.
Once we got the location of the mine we met Steve. He was super friendly, nice, and willing to answer any questions we had. He showed our group the different tools and methods used for mining a small creek. He also showed where they are currently working along with some info on what they’ve been finding.
He explained how to pan the concentrate that had been prepared. We each worked on panning the gold and some of us found a few garnets (little red gems) too. He gave tips and helped anyone having trouble. After we finished panning he helped us get the gold into our little bottles.
Some things to note:
- We brought bug spray and used it. There was rain on the horizon and the flys got very active.
- Bring layers. It didn’t rain on us but it was close. Also the boat ride is a bit cooler than when you’re stopped.
- It would have been fun to also get to scoop some material direct from the stream to pan after getting the first pan completed. It would yield less or perhaps nothing at all since it wouldn’t have been concentrate, but it would have been fun exploring

需要注意的事项：
- 我们带了杀虫剂，也用了。当时天边下着雨，苍蝇很活跃。
- 带上几件衣服。虽然没下雨，但差不多了。而且乘船比停船的时候凉快一点。
- 如果在淘完第一个金子后，还能直接从溪流里舀一些金子去淘，那一定很有趣。虽然淘到的金子可能更少，甚至可能什么都没有，因为不是精矿，但探索起来会很有趣。
