点评：I’ve now been in Hikkadua far longer than I intended. The main Galle - Colombo Rd that runs through Hikka is mainly divided in two simple ways. Jungle side and beach side. For obvious reasons on beach side it tends to be busier. That doesn’t necessarily mean you get the best restaurants. There must be 200 places to choose from. I drop in on a spontaneous way each day.
It’s now well and truly into off peak season. Several beach side and jungle places have closed. Today I chose a very popular restaurant for travelers. I’ve been here previously but it’s often full and hard to get a table. It’s not hard to see why, it’s the restaurant showcasing vegetarian and vegan friendly in the area. Now well and truly into the rainy season, it’s still open and service is exceptional as ever.
Having dined now in over 40 restaurants in the area, I’ve exhausted most meals on offer in Hikka. It’s Sunday lunchtime so I order a cappuccino, French toast with papaya, mango and vanilla ice cream. Whilst waiting I also order a passion fruit soda. It’s absolutely thirst quenching and hits the spot on this sunny morning.
The French toast arrives shortly and it has salted caramel sauce, star fruit and mango with papaya as ordered. Sprinkled with icing sugar and garnished with a local flower. It’s delicious, filling and the side of homemade vanilla ice cream is literally the perfect accompaniment. Sanju is my server today and is very polite, courteous and professional. The cappuccino is divine and really sets you up for the afternoon. Highly recommended and a well deserved five stars.
