点评：This somewhat upscale restaurant in a trendy part of Ashburn, Va was just average. The decor is contemporary with 2 levels of seating and an outdoor area. Our server (Eugene) was very efficient and most helpful. He took our order not long after we sat down and the food arrived quickly. 2 of us had fish & chips. Both of us agreed they were nothing special. There were 2 medium sized pieces of fish and a load of fries. There was an incredibly small side of weird tasting cold slaw and not enough tarter sauce. The fish & chips were just tossed on a hot metal plate. It was ok but far from a creative serving. I’d have liked less fries and another piece of fish. My friend had a salad that was huge and he ate it all so it must have been good. Having said that we had ordered mini-cheeseburgers for an appetizer and they tasted great. It made me wish I had gotten one of their gourmet burgers instead of the fish & chips. Prices were quite reasonable.
Be aware it was WAY too loud in the high ceilinged 2nd floor. You could hardly carry on a conversation. I suppose I’d go back as it wasn’t really bad but places like this are everywhere. There’s really nothing to distinguish Matchbox from dozens of other restaurants that cater to the under 40 crowd.
