点评:Booked an Executive Suite, 1 Bedroom at the Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Kuala Lumpur through Hotels.com for an 8-night stay for 2 persons. We chose the Pan Pacific Serviced Suites mainly for its relative newness, the washer/dryer appliance, and the central location in the Bukit Bintang area. After our stay, we realized what a great choice this had been.
THE WOW!
- The suite felt SPACIOUS. The 624 sq ft unit was efficiently and evenly divided between living, sleeping, bathroom, and kitchen areas. The high ceilings and tall windows helped.
- A SOOTHING contemporary chic feel from light-ish neutral tones with some wood laminate wall panels, tile floors & modern furnishings. Oval coffee table, throw pillow mix, and patterned floor rug added a thoughtful designer aesthetic.
- Balmain brand bath amenities (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, & body lotion). Mild scent. PREMIUM continental impression.
- High 19th floor room facing Imbi Road with a PICTURESQUE view of The Exchange TRX as well as hills in the distant landscape. Especially good view at night with lighted buildings.
- We both SLEPT VERY WELL. The bed and bedding were superbly comfortable. Pillows, duvet and linen by Canasin, a hotel quality brand. We were particularly pleased with the pairing of firm and medium loft pillows.
- The LOCATION of the premises on Jalan Sultan Ismail between Bukit Bintang Road and Imbi Road was excellent. It was easy to walk to various shopping malls and restaurants. Short walk to the Bukit Bintang MRT station; generally covered sidewalks except when crossing Jalan Walter Granier.
THE APPRECIATED
- Front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. I enquired about seeing a Two Bedroom Suite for a possible future visit & was given a room tour.
- Luxury spa feel with hotel-branded waffle robe, & fluffy slippers. Bath towels were medium fluffy.
- The closet also had a safe, laundry bag, iron, ironing board and other amenities.
- WiFi was complimentary and reliable. Speedtest results were 30.2 Mbps Download, 29.9 Mbps Upload. Fast. Worked well for a Zoom video-conference meeting.
- There was a climate control panel in the bedroom and another in the living room area. Air-conditioning cooling in each zone performed adequately. For some reason, we adjusted the temperature setting night vs day to maintain personal comfort. Sound measurement from the AC outlet vent was at a gentle 51dB = good white noise.
- The room was overall in excellent condition. Clean and minimal wear & tear. Housekeeping did a very good job attending to the suite.
- The kitchenette was very well-equipped. We particularly appreciated the filtered water system/dispenser, and the large refrigerator.
- Washer/Dryer was an Electrolux UltimateCare 300. It was clean and easy to use. We used it regularly.
- There is a work desk smartly positioned in front of the bedroom window which gives an expansive outside view.
- Enjoyed wading in the infinity pool on Level 25. The view is amazing especially at night when many of the lighted tall KL buildings can be seen.
- Also on Level 25 are a well-kept gym, a social/meeting area called “The Living Room”, and the Pacific Lounge (dining/café layout). We used the gym, and relaxed over an espresso in the Pacific Lounge several times. Except for breakfast time, these areas were not busy. We did not have breakfast in our reservation package.
- Large windows in living and bedroom areas allowed in lots of energizing natural daylight. Sheer curtain panels helped with light control.
A RATHER LONG WISHLIST
- Large wall-mounted Samsung LED televisions in the living room (with soundbar and subwoofer) and bedroom with Chromecast and other connectivity features. Medium selection of channels. Chromecast was finicky & often failed after 15 to 20 minutes. Screen mirroring over WiFi also was problematic. Television could not be set-up to directly connect my laptop computer via HDMI cable for screen projection (no input control in television interface). The subwoofer did not work even for music streaming. In the end, the televisions turned out to be frustrating and consequently little-used.
- Hair dryer was an Elba 1800-2000W 3-heat. 2-speed. Did not have ionic or ceramic/tourmaline features. The bathroom plug to connect the hair dryer is behind a mirror inside a cabinet so it was troublesome to plug it in.
- There was a lot of room lighting which allowed good control of ambiance. We especially appreciated the night light between the bedroom and bathroom. The floor and pendant lamps with round ball shades were a nice deco touch. However, there were a lot of switches and they were not labeled. Took bothersome trial and error to turn on/off the right light.
- Bathroom overall was excellent - with just a few issues needing attention. Lots of thoughtful toiletries. Shower was very nice with good water flow, fast arrival of hot water, & Balmain shower products. Issues include: (i) shower door bar has sharp elbows which once scraped my forearm when entering, (ii) no Balmain bath products at the tub (there were bath salts & a loofah which delighted), (iii) we would have liked to have had the Balmain (liquid soap) Hand Wash as well, & (iv) the tub had a repair patch that was not smoothed out.
- Toilet has a Toto Washlet (bidet) unit with a manual valve control. The flush buttons for the toilet were inconveniently low on the back wall and blocked by the toilet seat when up.
- The toothbrush amenity had painfully stiff bristles. We reverted to our Singapore Airlines toothbrush instead which was perfectly gentle.
- Closet drawers would tip sliding in and out. Closet door would slide open by itself turning on the inside light.
- Almost a deal breaker when making a reservation were the room photos and descriptions that are on the Pan Pacific website as well as Hotels.com. The differences between the base, Deluxe and Executive rooms were not apparent.
- While the overall design tone was very pleasing, some additional accessorizing (artwork, greenery) for room character would have made the suite even better.
WOULD WE RETURN?
- We would definitely consider making a reservation for a future stay. There is compelling convenience, value & comfort offered in this "sweet" suite.
