点评：Full Disclosure: I am a family member of the owner of Big Leaf restaurant and have repeatedly eaten there since its opening. Leaving Malaysia as a young adult, I never returned to live there but have returned regularly for many years. There are already many posted comments about the food served, and indeed this restaurant’s dishes are authentic, consistently tasty and of high quality. But as an experienced traveler who values the immersive cultural experiences of non-touristy restaurants, I’m inspired to offer additional details.
This restaurant is affordably priced, peacefully quiet and located in a safe residential neighborhood. For seasoned travelers seeking to eat among “real” people and not just tourists, Big Leaf is a great find. If you haven’t already guessed, the food is served directly onto appropriately-sized banana leaf sections. It’s not only traditional and charming but also eliminates unneeded water usage.
Big Leaf is non-smoking and does not serve alcohol. The food has plenty of variety and vegetarians can eat well here. They have a younger Indian Malaysian chef who enjoys preparing traditional Indian cuisine with quality ingredients that respect her culture’s culinary traditions. Meals are served in a quiet, open-air surrounding with a full roof that allows fresh air without unwanted wind or rain. Patrons are mostly locals of varied cultural origins. There is ample staffing with prompt service who are polite and of varying nationalities. Lots of pictures of the premises and the food on their website.
