点评:We took this line as part of an organized tour from Tokyo to Kanazawa so I can't speak about booking the tickets but I knew something prior to it, which further confirmed my "concerns" about the luggage later - namely in the videos I have seen prior to visiting Japan they mention that if you have a big luggage you want to book it in advance as the space is limited on the train - our tour asked us to abandon thus the big luggage for 2 days while in transit (they shipped it via bus directly to Kyoto in the meantime) - so although the Shinkansen is an amazing way to move fast throughout Japan, it is a way for people who travel LIGHT!
Other than that I found the train amazing - fast, reliable - the entry time was 2 minutes for people to get in and out at Tokyo station (probably the same or less at other stops but I was told 2 minutes is the maximum). The restrooms are super clean, the food service going throughout the train reasonably priced (cash only I believe it was).
My biggest complain would be the windows - unless you sit literally by the window seeing anything is somewhat impossible or greatly limited at the very least, the setup of chairs in our cart was 2 on the left side and then 3 on the right side, guess which sit I had... yep the very middle one - and there are some stunning views at times, especially once you get closer to Kanazawa where you see ocean on the right side and snow covered mountains on the left side - the solution to this problem was to simply walk out of the cart to the entrance hallway and just see it all through the doors :) there is also a first class type of accommodations and that I believe is 2x2 seats
TIP: I was stunned by the fact that each chair had on top a device for vision impaired people to provide info in the Braille alphabet - similar to the sidewalks around Tokyo, Japan is truly 100 light years ahead of the rest of the world :)
