Do not miss this Thai Food in Panama City
I have never been to Thailand but am convinced that the food offerings there will not surpass those at Avantika, PH The Towers, 50th Street, Calle 50 y Calle 66, San Francisco, Panama City (Phone 507 382 3427; Cell 6463 5659).
There is a large outdoor patio (if you like the heat) and a sophisticated indoor restaurant, attractively decorated, well lit and quiet, with barely audible soft music.
The service is very professional and caring, anxious to put the guest first. And they offer a Menu in colloquial English, a delight to this non-Spanish speaking Canadian.
Ah yes – the food! They offer a wide range of Thai cuisine, from large appetizers (bring your friends) to soups, stir-fry, curry, noodles, rice and many other dishes, all in copious quantities and delicious except for the chicken satay; the chicken portions in the latter needed more trimming – there was too much gristle. And here is another major difference from all the Thai restaurants I have frequented before; You are not offered, for example, shrimp curry, but first you choose the type of curry and spicy level you like, you can then choose from a variety of protein (chicken, beef, shrimp, others) to be added to the dish. The food appears to be cooked to order so there is a bit of a wait, but that is not noticeable while you are busy polishing off the appetizers. For a desert I chose Strawberry Sherbet, which tasted of ripe, fresh strawberries from the first to the last spoonful.
They also have a well-stocked bar. I ordered a Pisco Sour which tasted like water so next time I will order another cocktail.
Did I write next time? For sure - at least once before I leave Panama City.
