点评:I love Chifas in Peru. One of my favorite Peruvian-Chinese types of restaurants since I was a child. Peru has one on every corner, but with time the fancy ones have sprawled all over the city.
Having a Mexican colleague in town, I had promised her to let her taste something very unique of Peru: a chifa.
I picked Madam Tusan because I had eaten at the restaurant in the past and always thought the food was excellent. Not on Wednesday when I needed to impress my colleague.
To be fair, the “Fried Air” appetizer was really good. Spring roll, wonton, etc. I would rate those by themselves a 4.
Where things went wrong is when the waiter brought our appetizers and then disappeared for at least 10 minutes. He had taken our order of drinks and appetizers and failed to bring us the drinks: water and pisco sour. When I called the attention of another waiter, they finally brought the drinks. With an apology, our waiter told us the bar tender had left and that he had to fix the pisco sour himself. It was terrible. I let him know but he did not do a thing and left the table. It felt like the guy was very poorly trained.
The food arrived and we had very high expectations of our Tallarín Saltado con Cerdo, Arroz Chaufa, and Pollo Chi hay Kai, my favorite Chifa dishes. None were good. The tallarín had nothing but noodles and no flavor. The pollo chi hay Kay was chewy and had grizzle. Not done in little filets of breast chicken. The rice Chaufa was greasy and also had no ingredients normally mixed on this dish. Ours was supposed to have shrimps: we found maybe 4.
When the bill came, I asked the waiter to remove the pisco sour drinks and he refused. I asked him to bring the manager and he said that he was gone for the day.
Perhaps I would have not written such a negative review had this guy used common sense and given me the courtesy of taking the drink charges out of the bill.
Very disappointed and my Mexican visitor never got to taste this great type of Peruvian cousine.
Oh well.
