点评:Many Malaysian food joints came and gone from Saigon over the years, while those surviving near Ben Thanh Market were simply not good.
Appreciate that Lesung Restaurant opened! Finally a quiet and classy place to tuck into delicious Malaysian food again. While the prices could be slightly higher here than other Singaporean/Malaysian food joints in town, but we felt that the authentic flavours, sheer variety of dishes that we missed and the clean enjoyable ambience make it all worthwhile.
Ordered classic dishes such as:
- Roti Canai
- Nasi Lemak
- Prawn Otak-Otak
- Butter Chicken
- Ikan Bakar
- Durian Cendol
They remembered to include the humble "Keropok" (prawn crackers) and "Achar" (pickled salad) which is rare to find these days. The sambal was great. The creaminess of their butter chicken, Otak-Otak and even the tender fish was awesome. Teh Tarik's pretty authentic too. Hope to try their other dishes next time.
Also cute are their Batik-design serviettes, newspaper-style menu, and the story of how this restaurant was named after the founder/chef's grandma's 150-year old mortar.

Otak-Otak
