点评：I went to Open Eye Tours on the recommendation of a good friend. I needed someone who knew the island and was in with the locals. The mission/purpose was a celebration of life for my father. My requests were for two special places to scatter my father's ashes with a party of 5. This request included places that would likely never be commercialized. Pono sent me multiple site options and eventually we narrowed it down and finalized. I selected a sacred healing temple area where natural medicine is practiced and taught today. Natural medicine has been practiced there for hundreds of years. This private area was under lock and key at two different gate points, but Pono had access. This area was not accessiable to the public so this is the type of thing where you need a private guide. The second area was open to the public, but there weren't many people. I only saw three people on this trail on what became a two-hour round trip to the "point". The "Point" was where the river met the sea with a terrific view of the river, the ocean and the Maui west-mountains. My father is in a beautiful place, a forever home times two. Now my kids know what to do for me.
Pono is professional, caring, knowledgeable and downright talented on the ukulele and singing Hawaiian songs! He also proved to be an excellent cook and provided us a lunch of fresh fruit (grown on his property) , home baked cookies and to die for brownies. He had a few more pleasant surprises along the way-but I don't want to give those away so they are just a mention. I highly recommended Pono for your private tour. Just tell him what your needs are and let him map/customize those needs/requirements to his 40 plus years on Maui. There is sure to be a way ahead from there. We spent the entire day together 9am to 5pm completing the mission in Aloha (love), while having fun and a little hiking exercise along the way. Look no further than Pono!
