点评:I consider myself rather knowledgeable about Mexican food, it being my favorite ethnic choice and having lived for years in Southern California, eating real Mexican food on a regular basis.
About Vida:
First the good: clean, tastefully decorated restaurant with excellent service.
The not so good: so loud that we could not hold a conversation. No paper menus, we had to rely on our cell phones to order and that makes comparisons difficult at best. No pictures on the online menu force’s guesswork on our orders which led to the bad:
Chiles Rellenos (which I ordered)
Chile poblano stuffed with chicken and picadillo, sour cream, queso fresco and Chef’s sauce on top. Served with Mexican rice and avocado salad.
At least that’s what the menu said (verbatim).
Reality was the worst Chiles Rellenos I’ve had in years. I ALWAYS ask if it is a poblano pepper but neglected to do so this time since the menu clearly stated it was a poblano pepper. It wasn’t, though. It was a green bell pepper. Stuffed? Nope. The pepper was split open and the “stuffing” laid on top of it. The chicken tasted like canned tuna and, truthfully, that’s what I thought it was until I rechecked the menu. Although they didn’t so state in the menu, I assumed the stuffed pepper would be battered and fried, as that it how chilies relleno is prepared. Nope, not here. I believe everything was just kind of stacked up on the split bell pepper and then microwaved to melt the tasteless cheese on top. This was unappetizing and tasted like a canned tuna casserole. Since there was no poblano, the taste was off for everything. Really, really bad.
The only reason I gave it two stars was that the avocado salad was very good. I ate all of it but could only down one of the green bell peppers without getting physically sick. I brought the other home so that I could take a picture for this review.
My wife had the Pollo Puebla. Her comments were: unappealing, greasy, tasteless and didn’t have any taste associated with Mexican food. She also said it made her nauseous after a few bites.
I suppose this meal supports human life so there is that redeeming quality. If your expectations exceed that, I’d steer clear. I don’t plan to return here and will actively urge anyone I care about to do the same. It was that grim.

关于 Vida:
Chiles Rellenos(我点的)
