点评：My partner and I were looking forward to a nice dinner out, but sadly, our experience at Amarettos was anything but pleasant. I ordered the prawn and crab linguine (yum), along with an entrée of Arancini. The Arancini was disappointing—promised to be mushroom-flavored, but all I could taste was an overpowering tomato sauce, with not a mushroom insight. My partner ordered the garlic bread (which, to be fair, was delicious!!) and the pesto gnocchi. When the gnocchi arrived, he took one bite and immediately spat it out. It was raw. Not slightly undercooked—completely raw. The texture was very soft, very sticky, doughy, and stringy, clearly not cooked through. There was no gentle bounce with it, it was simply raw.
We showed the gnocchi to one of the female staff members, and she agreed it was raw. When we went to pay, we raised the concern again. That’s when an older gentleman, who seemed to be in charge, approached us. Instead of offering an apology or showing understanding, he insisted the gnocchi was fine because “that’s how the chef made it.” We asked him to test it himself, and he did—only to come back with the same raw, gooey gnocchi and say, “This is how we buy it.” Not only did he refuse to acknowledge the issue, but he also contradicted himself by claiming it wasn’t even made in-house. To their credit, the price of the dish was reduced.
What made this worse was the dismissive attitude. As loyal customers since 2018, we expected better. Pointing out a clear problem with the food should not have led to us being treated like we were overreacting. It’s hard to support a place that refuses to take constructive feedback and defends undercooked food with contradictory excuses. This was the first time we’ve had a bad experience at Amarettos, but it will certainly be the last. A business that won’t acknowledge its mistakes or respect its customers isn’t worth our time or money.
