点评:A less advertised museum, less know but superb nonetheless - the Museum of Roots - , born from the passion of collecting divers pieces o wood and turning those into artworks and household items.
The museum is located in a private house , the owners live there still - hence why it is open daily from 8:00 till 20:00 in the summer - and also in the winter.
The exhibition are is in 3 small rooms - but it is very interesting, as the wood of different roots and stumps have been hand carved, you will see serpents, dragons, spoons and dishes, "Dracula" made of a bigger root ... so many divers things and items.
Also there is a small corner of war memorabilia and of older school books and house hold items from the are of Maramures.
In the courtyard along the small stream , the owner build a waterwheel connected to a generator to get electricity - very ingenious.
There is no visiting tax , they rely on the donations made by the visitors - so as you wish , you can drop something in the box at the entrance to the museum - or not should you don't like the exhibits.
Overall a great place - very friendly owners and a sort of museum that you don't see everyday - so I would say if you are in the area, stop for a few minutes , it is well worth it.
