点评：I did the 45-day tour of the South Island Feb-Apr 2025. What a great time I had. Jemma and Grant are fantastic hosts.
We were well fed - excellent breakfasts every day with amazing choice (cereal, toast, spreads, fruit juice, yoghurt, fresh fruit) and often treats like scrambled eggs, bacon butties, hot cross buns. Sometimes you have to fend for yourself in the evenings, but over half were cooked by Jemma - very tasty and varied and always a lot of it. Lunches were bought en route, usually a supermarket or bakery.
Grant was very entertaining and full of interesting facts as we travelled around. He is an excellent driver. I felt completely safe the whole time.
Both worked extremely hard throughout the trip, offering help and guidance and making sure everyone was happy.
Camping is in big individual tents, with a raised stretcher bed. Bring your own airbed for comfort. The tents are easy to put up though it felt a bit like hard work packing away every few days but don’t worry - help is at hand - Grant, Jemma and fellow travellers are always willing to help you! The camping made it all the more adventurous and good value.
We travelled all over the island, stopping off for comfort breaks, photos, places of interest and food shops.
A few trips are included but mostly you need to plan your free time. There are plenty of trips to book on, bikes to hire and great walks.
On a nice evening you may play Molkky (like skittles but better). On a rainy day you may play Waloo (dice game) or Rummikub. Great fun.
Jemma and Grant are great. You couldn’t wish for nicer people to lead a tour.
I highly recommend this trip. I wish I could have extended my trip over to the North Island.
Don’t hesitate. Book it! You will be glad you did!
