点评:First time here since it changed from 'Emporium' and certainly the last. Even though the place was nearly empty, the service was average at best. Waiter couldn't be bothered telling us about the specials and when I went to ask him something he just walked away.
Food almost came too fast which I always find suspicious if you're meant to be cooking it from fresh. Then it went downhill rapidly.
My wife's risotto was so overcooked it was like rice pudding, yet it wasn't really even hot.. I'm thinking that it was probably just heated up in the science oven.
My eye fillet was actually a scotch fillet and wafer thin, which probably explains why it was really overcooked. It came with a really watery jus, mashed potato that had the consistency of wallpaper paste, and some veg with a dollop of mayonnaise next to it.
The waiter is now arguing with me telling me that this flat pancake of meat that looks like a map of Australia is really eye fillet.. OK this is weird, I may not be a butcher but I learned the difference between shapes when I was 2!
When they replaced it due to being overcooked, I got one maybe 4 minutes later and sure enough this one was very rare, and had blood coming out of every orifice.
To their credit they offered a free dessert to compensate but I'd had enough of this food by now and am thinking of turning vegan...
My wife got a panna cotta for dessert and again this was beyond poor, and instead of being smooth and silky it has the texture of a half chewed scrambled eggs. Now the waiter is trying to tell me it's this way because they used agar agar instead of gelatin. I'm thinking that maybe I missed that part in my science classes where they told us that agar agar has protein strings the size of marbles.
Pretty sad to think that you can spend money on a night out and get food worse than you'd cook at home... If this place is around in 18 months I'll be amazed.
