点评:Ate here with some friends for a casual dinner. Good vibe, lots of people and music. As a coeliac I checked what I could eat and a knowledgeable waitress told me the kitchen was experienced and not to worry as my meal would be gluten free.
But when the meals arrived my grilled fish was on a bed of couscous (which isn’t gf). I told the waitress and she took the meal away. She returned with the same meal and assured me that it was gf but was unable to tell me anything about the mystery grain on the plate. As my first time eating here, and with no knowledge of the chef’s actual understanding of gluten, I couldn’t take the risk. Was there a new gf couscous product available - maybe? Did the chef know there was gluten in couscous - how could I know? She ended up taking the meal back and bringing a new meal without couscous. It meant everybody else had eaten their meals before mine arrived, but she was very apologetic and also gave us a free round of drinks.
Was my meal gluten free - I’ll never know. But this could have been avoided if the waitress or kitchen was able to tell me what was on the plate and give me the confidence that it was safe.
With so much at stake, I can’t operate on blind trust…
