点评：We booked for a pre-theatre lunch on the Saturday of Sunderland Restaurant Week telling them that we wanted the deal only to be told by the restaurant manager that they weren't offering the deal that lunchtime even though it still stated on the the Sunderland Restaurant Week website that it was available at all lunchtimes.. His attitude was unapologetic and bordering on slightly aggressive. As we were time limited we opted to stay and dine off the main menu.
The choice wasn't particularly good and we all decided to have sandwiches. Two of us had to change our order because there was no pastrami. The food service was very slow and when it arrived it was very disappointing. The toasted cheese sandwiches were tiny and the beef sandwiches were served in a stale-ish burger bun with a tiny smear of horseradish sauced a few lettuce leaves. We were asked if we wanted any additional sauces and asked for some pickle which arrived halfway through eating the sandwich in a small dish - no mention was made that it would be an extra cost which we discovered when the bill came was 50p.
The waitresses were very nice and seemed a bit embarrassed about the whole situation but the restaurant manager was very offhand and even slightly aggressive.
Considering that this restaurant is in a prime location situated in a new arts centre and next to the theatre at the heart of the regeneration of Sunderland, it is a very poor advertisement for the city and we feel that we would have had a better value and experience at the local Wetherspoons.
