Wonderful vineyard tour and wine tasting - highly recommend

点评：I went on the guided vineyard tour of Astley Vineyards in mid-May-2024 - I absolutely love it.
The tour started with a welcome drink and a short history of the vineyard (oldest in the UK) up to now, the current owners being two generations of a family. We were taken on a short walk that included a section of woods the family are restoring, then onto the vineyard for lots of interesting facts on vines, viticulture and the challenges of being a wine producer in England! I don't know a lot about vineyards, but I learnt a lot in that short talk - then we got to try a sparkling baccus from the vineyard.
We were then taken to the winery, where we were given an overview of how wine is produced, and tried a new product the vineyard is doing, a piquette (very nice!).
Then on to a wine tasting - one of the best I've attended as we had three wines to try, with information on each, but also some food pairings to try where we were encouraged to try some "traditional" pairings, but also to try some opposites, e.g. rich cheese with a citrusy wine.
The overall experience was fun, very informative, and absolutely brilliant. I would highly recommend it.
