Disappointing Meal Despite Friendly Staff and Pleasant Setting

点评：We stopped by The Valley in Bishopston as a walk-in and were grateful to be accommodated without a booking, a good first impression. The staff were friendly and the pub itself has a nice, relaxed environment that feels welcoming.
Unfortunately, the food experience let it all down.
We ordered three lamb dinners and waited over 18 minutes for the meals to arrive. Oddly, they didn’t come out together, which spoilt the eating as a family experience.
When the meals finally did appear, the quality was underwhelming. Each plate had elements served at noticeably different temperatures, as if they’d been sitting around or cooked at different times. The peas were barely cooked, and the rest of the plate wasn’t much better.
Not once did a member of staff check in to ask if the food was okay — not even the owner, who was quite happy to take our £100 (for 3 main meals and a drink each — a steep price considering the experience).
All in all, it’s a shame. The setting and staff were promising, but the food service and quality left a lot to be desired. Sadly, not rushing back!
