This was intended as a gift for someone who not only was celebrating a special birthday, but was also undergoing the rigors of cancer treatment. They deserved a special treat. The recipient tried to redeem the gift voucher and make a booking this weekend. They had no success in booking over the website and finally, after many attempts, did manage to speak to a junior member of staff, who informed them that the number on the voucher appeared to be invalid but if they could send details of the transaction they would raise the issue with the Manager. I then did as requested sending the full details of the purchase. This email was acknowledged. Over the course of the next 3 days I tried to contact the hotel 10 times by phone. Each time I was directed to a voicemail system that announces "the mailbox is full" and hangs up. I have sent follow up emails all to no avail. There is no reason why the intended recipient should miss out on their treat and since any booking needs to be fitted in around hospital visits, I have made alternative arrangements at a hotel that values their customers, which Me and Mrs Jones clearly do not - based on what has happened staying here would almost certainly be a miserable experience. Since Me and Mrs Jones have failed to provide the service for which they were paid I have requested a refund - it would be the decent thing to do, but based on experience so far I doubt it will be forthcoming.
