Our hostess/waitress who did not introduce herself is very efficient. Service was unhurried but not too drawn out and attentive without being intrusive
Our first two courses were good, particularly the mushroom course. It was beautifully creamy, and the Polenta crout was excellent What let the meal down was the beef main. We found the beef too stringy, and although the roast potatoes were good, the boiled carrots and white cabbage veggies were rather dismal. My partner called the mushroom duxelle pointless, I just found it tasteless . Overall, it was very disappointing. We had expected it to be the highlight
As I have said, our first two courses were good and our pudding was enjoyable too. I loved the vanilla cream. Though my partner said it would have been nice to have a biscuity thing with it. I think that would work
The decor is quite simple which we liked. It's a relaxing place to eat. The tables are a good size and the chairs are comfortable. I hate having to sit on poor quality ones. I would recommend this restaurant, but not sure we would return. Perhaps I am a philistine when it comes to beef as I am not keen on it being rare, especially when it's difficult to cut as it was here. Having a sharper knife would have helped
