The Temple Of The Delians的点评
点评：Standing next to each other on the Sacred Way are three temples which, together, make up the Temple of Apollo. The first is the Temple of the Delians, the second is the Temple of the Athenians and the third is the Poros Temple. The Temple of the Delians which, as its name suggests, was dedicated by the Delians (an association of over 150 Greek city states founded in 478 BC to wage war against the Persian Empire), was the largest of the temples, which is why it is also called the Great Temple. Construction began in about 476 BC but this building work was halted in 454 BC, when the Treasury of the Delians (which was paying for the work) was moved to Athens. Building work was started again sfter 314 BC. The temple was to 6 columns on each narrow side and 13 columns on each long side but the columns were never finished and they were left scattered around the site. Just looking at what is there today leaves you with the impression of what an impressive temple it would have been.
