点评:My wife and I recently got married and for our honeymoon we wanted to spend 10 nights in Lake Garda. We saw on the website that this hotel was 4 stars, so we opted for the half board option, including airport transfers as this was our special holiday.
Regrettably, it became clear this was not really a 4 star level hotel at all. This hotel has daily room cleaning changes, but I am honestly unsure as to what justifies 4 stars as there are no other services/things to do in the hotel. Apart from your room, reception with a bar, restaurant and a roof garden/solarium. I would consider this a 3 star hotel by UK rating standards, just to give you an indication.
The staff were fantastic, we couldn't fault them throughout, very kind and professional.
However, it was everything else with the hotel which left us feeling extremely disappointed. Furthermore, if you are a couple below 40, you might want to know this hotel seems to attract a much older audience (50-70)
Breakfast
The hotel food for breakfast was underwhelming. The hot food options are always the same:
Scrambled egg
Boiled egg
Cut up frankfurters.
Everything else was OK and on a continental style with cold fruits, cereals, toast, yoghurts, etc. Pastries and cakes were also also provided and the coffee was good.
Evening Food (Half Board)
Each evening you have a menu with 3 options to choose for your 1st course, 2nd course and dessert. We noticed going into day 8 of our holiday, the menus were repeat each week.
The options often consist of frozen items. Also, items are reused in buffets the next day, which i can understand from a food waste perspective.
Unfortunately, we found a majority of the food to be bland, undercooked and as a result we decided to eat somewhere else for 3 nights out of the 10.
We thought staying in a hotel in Italy the food would not come across as canteen based.
What sadly added to our frustration is that the restaurant itself felt sterile. Tables were crammed in and you are placed right next to other people. You also have the same table throughout the stay for dinner, so it feels like a rushed routine, rather than an experience. It felt like you couldn't have any decent conversation because others were right next to you. We noticed other couples hardlely spoke and it just felt empty. It didn't feel like a restaurant, more like a canteen in a hospital. Whilst I do commend the brilliant staff, 4 or 5 of them often told to stand watching over you whilst you eat, ready to pounce and grab plates. I completely get the proactiveness, but it felt rushed and disappointing. In fact my wife asked us to swap seats so she wasn't facing them whilst she ate. If you are not a fan of this, ask for a table round the corner for a bit more privacy.
You also have the 2 menus for the food of the night and the following night constantly on your table, taking up space on an already small table.
Sadly it feels as though the food is intentionally catered to an older audience. A lot of reviews have praised the food, however I genuinely question this as relatively simple food in restaurants less than 100 yards away, is so much better.
Rooms
The rooms were pretty basic. We took a non balcony option overlooking the street behind the hotel. A lot of the rooms have random balconies on the side with little to no privacy. The best way to describe the chaotic design would be to think of the room in Squid Games when the contestants walk between events, very random and some quite exposed to passers by in the hotel.
Rooms have older furniture. Beds are not double, they are 2 singles joined by a bed sheet. Each single bed has a single duvet, which I actually thought was a good idea if you and your partner react to temperature differently.
Bathroom has a sliding door, which is not sound proof. No window or ventilation so condensation collects on the radiator and leaks on the floor. Also the shower had a bizarre 5cm gap at the bottom of each door, meaning water constantly leaks out onto the floor, making it a slip hazard as you are only given one floor towel to absorb.
Regrettably, me and my wife became ill midway through the holiday with a cold. The air conditioning didn't help matters as every time we used it, it aggravated our allergies. We ended up having to leave windows open instead, but had to put up with the noisy streets below.
The room cleaning was superb and everything was always left perfect. We couldn't fault this service and were very happy with how the room was left each day. The water leak issue with the shower is worrying and needs sorting
Whilst I appreciate we have expressed disappointment with the hotel. If you stayed here and didn't eat, I think you would have a good stay.
Also the location is absolutely fantastic and its a 5 min walk from a drop off point if you get a taxi from the airport. Drinks in the bar and options available are good.
You are 10 mins walk from a Coop shop and 15 mins walk from a super market which has a brilliant pharmacy next to it. There is a Gelateria outside the hotel to the left and also a cafe.
