点评:Went for lunch, keen to try Philippine inspired cuisine. We need to acknowledge that we are not familiar with this cuisine and struggled with the menu. There was plenty of information about the ingredients we just couldn't conceptualise what the dishes would look like - that's our shortcomings.
In the end I opted for two entrees: tempura vegetables and a calamari dish, my wife ordered Chicken Adobo. The chicken was marinated in soya sauce, vinegar, garlic and onion.
The entrees were ok, the tempura was a heavier batter and not the light Japanese style. The calamari was quite good, just a little firm.
The chicken adobo was very tasty but each bite consisted of three or four tiny bones. My wife described it as like eating a poorly filleted fish. At the end of the meal there were more bones on the plate than chicken eaten. This was a shame as the taste of the chicken was delicious as were the accompanying eggs and potatoes. The pity is the heavy handed chopping of the chicken.
The space is airy and well furnished, the staff cheerful and attentive.
The cafe is fully licensed and BYO is not permitted.
We will definitely return but based on the food today it was just three stars from us.
