Rocksalt的点评
点评：I am a regular customer and Rocksalt never disappoints! I usually dine with family &/or friends, but today I dined alone, having had the news of the sudden death of a friend this morning. I jumped into my car and drove from Broadstairs to Folkestone on impulse, as Rocksalt always has a warm, friendly atmosphere and the harbour view is so uplifting. The beautiful sea view was soothing and the perfect foil for my grief!
The staff, Andra, Leon & Sophia were amazing, so warm, kind & friendly. Akosh the Chef produced delicious food served with a smile!
I ordered an appetiser of 'Smoke Shed' cod's roe & seaweed crackers which was superb. Followed by the twice-baked Canterbury Cobble cheese soufflé with Montgomery cheddar sauce which was very tasty.
My main course was the pan-fried Rye Bay skate wing with dill and smoked anchovy butter & crispy kale, served with a side order of Morghew Park ratte potatoes which was so generous I could only eat half, but it would be ideal for 2 people.
The desert was the highlight of my visit, my all-time favourite Gypsy Tart served with apple sorbet!
My lunch was accompanied by a glass of Gusbourne Brut Reserve which I highly recommend. I also ordered a glass of Simpson's Sparkling Rosé which was average in comparison. Normally if someone else is driving, I indulge in several of Rocksalt's impressive cocktails, but as I had to drive home, I ordered a double expresso coffee. The coffee is of exceptional quality.
To those reviewers who complain of slow service, I would say Rocksalt is not a fast-food restaurant, it is a place to relax and savour your food whilst enjoying the amazing view of the harbour and the English Channel.
On hearing it was my birthday, Andra & Sophia brought me a birthday plate with ice cream and a birthday candle. You really could not wish for nicer staff, so warm and friendly! After so many smiles and hugs I left feeling so much better than when I arrived.
I have booked a table for Mother's Day and I cannot wait to come back!
