点评：This is a very nice old building but having said that then of course some of the features are also old. The car park was very accessible and the road the Hotel is located off from is a good run, but be warned a very sharp turn in if coming from Balmoral.
The grounds are very nice and the hotel is in a good location.
The breakfast, described as a good breakfast on Booking.com was cold and mainly bread with a toaster and a few cereals. There were a few cold meats and a small amount of smoked salmon. That is fine and perhaps had it been described as a good continental breakfast that would have helped. I expected a nice cooked Scottish breakfast, and on asking I was told, breakfast is free this is all that is available. Not very polite to be fair and certainly breakfast is included in the price but it is not free.
We went to our room which had a nice bath but no shower in the en-suite. The bedroom was basic with a single comfy chair and one desk chair so sitting in the room was not ideal.
We went out for the day and came back to find the room had not been serviced. When asking at reception we were told very assertively that it was our fault as we should have put the “please make up my room sign on the door”. I always see that as an invite to anyone wanted to try to gain entry to an empty room and do not put the sign on but usually this is not an issue as the staff knock to gain entry.
I think the staff are of a mixture, we found one very friendly (working on 1st July in the evening), one not so friendly but fine (working in the morning at breakfast on 2nd July) and one rather challenging (working in the evening on July 2nd).
There is a lovely dog though who is so nice we wanted to take it home.
The rates for the hotel vary so I would say choose your price carefully and if you have booked with free cancellation check back before the deadline to see if you can get it for a lower rate, although in summary, I would not stay here again.
