点评:The old Ruen Thai restaurant has now moved to Cecil St and is now called Ruen Chao Phraya Thai Food, but the owner and chef are the same. However, the standards are still the same and the prices must be the most reasonable for any restaurant in Carlisle: £12 for a Thai red curry with rice and a 600 ml bottle of Singha beer is excellent.
Not that there is any skimping on portions or quality. I ordered the curry with king prawns and the prawns were full size, the curry sauce beautiful and the portion of rice large. Also the owner gave me a plate of prawn crackers at no extra charge, another bonus, and these were nice to follow up the curry.
In terms of authenticity, Ruen Chao scores highly with tables with Thai carvings on the table, pictures of Thailand and the Thai royal family, and the owner dressed in a Thai type trouser suit. Also customer service was excellent from the owner, who was very friendly and polite, but note at the moment the restaurant is cash only( the nearest cash machine is 5 minutes away) until a card reader is received.
