点评:Booked our table online with no problems. This restaurant has fairly recently changed hands and has been comprehensively renovated.
The pub side of the premises is very modern and clean but drink prices are (from recent experience) not cheap.
Arrived (on the 5th June) at the Ash restaurant, booked in at their reception desk and were escorted to our table.
Their drinks menu had a decent range of wines but my final choice of wine would have been dictated to by the prices had I not spotted a South African wine we both coincidentally liked.
The food menu was printed on an A4 sheet of paper.
Our starters were attractively prepared and the tacos I ordered tasted lovely but my wife’s hummus tasted very bland.
The main courses offered were all quite or very expensive, we chose flat iron steaks with peppercorn and chimmichurri sauces and chips. We enquired what flat iron steaks are but the waitress had no idea how to describe them and did not seek advice from her colleagues either.
The chunky chips were fine, the steaks (sliced beef) not particularly anything special and the peppercorn sauce did not taste as good as other restaurants I’ve had it in. We did not order a dessert. When paying the bill there was an (automatically imposed) service charge of 10% which I refused to pay, though I left a cash tip of own my choice.
